There are numerous legends and myths surrounding the Freemasons. It is a secret society that is in plain sight, yet no one knows what goes on inside. Some believe that the organization exists for the spiritual development of its members, while others think it is primarily for charitable purposes. However, the Freemasons have had a significant influence on the architecture of Western society. In this tour, we will learn more about Freemasonry, admire the masterpieces of Masonic architecture, and even have the opportunity to interact with a representative of the society.

The "Mitzpe" Lodge occupies a building in the central part of Jerusalem, which is not surprising considering the close connection between the history of Freemasonry and this ancient city. Freemasons believe that their history dates back not to the early 18th century, as officially recognized, but much further—to the establishment of the Jerusalem Temple by King Solomon himself. Here, we will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with a real Freemason.

The tour will include a visit to the Rockefeller Museum, a true architectural masterpiece designed by architect Austin Harrison.

The tour will conclude at the YMCA building, constructed in 1933. The project was created with the participation of architects Arthur Louis Harmon and William F. Lamb, who were also involved in the design of the iconic Empire State Building. The YMCA was established for the spiritual development of young people under the auspices of the Christian association, but the Freemasons offered their assistance here as well. Today, part of the complex serves as a hotel. In 1953, the Grand Masonic Lodge of Israel was opened in the building.

Attractions

Old town in Jerusalem

At this part of the city located  its main attractions are concentrated. In the Old City are the main shrines of three religions: Muslim, Jewish and Christian. There are also several quarters in which Jews, Arabs, Christians and Armenians live. Despite the fact that Armenians also are Christians, separate services are held for them in temples, and they live separately. In the Armenian quarter there are practically no tourist excursions. Everyone can see the stunning monuments of ancient architecture, just a walk through the Old Town. The Tower of David, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the preserved Roman shopping street, the Wailing Wall and many other sights of Jerusalem are open for tourists.

YMCA in Jerusalem

The Young Men's Christian Association building is one of Jerusalem's most famous landmarks. Every detail of the building, with its elegant arches, domes and towers, has been described in the world press, which hailed the complex as a source of cultural, sporting, social and intellectual life.
The interior, however, is even more striking. Decorative elements of the three Abrahamic religions are skillfully interwoven here.

In the concert hall 12 windows of the dome symbolize 12 tribes of Israel, 12 apostles of Jesus Christ and 12 followers of the Prophet Muhammad. The cross, crescent moon and Star of David are visible in the chandeliers.

Jerusalem

Jerusalem is not only the capital of modern Israel, but also a city which, for many centuries, has been the "center of the world" for Jews, Christians and Muslims.

No other city on the planet can  compare with it, because only Jerusalem has such a rich spiritual and historical attraction.
