First, we will explore the Tel Gezer National Park. It is an ancient city where ongoing excavations are taking place. According to the Bible, the Egyptian pharaoh Shishak, when giving his daughter in marriage to the Israelite king Solomon, bestowed this rich dowry upon her. Wise Solomon fortified and strengthened the city, defending his lands from external enemies.

Next, we will visit the biblical city of Beit Shemesh. There, you will learn the story of the hero Samson, whose blind love for a woman led to his downfall. You will also hear the extraordinary tale of the return of the Ark of the Covenant, which was captured by the Philistines.

We will also visit Shaaraim, the ruins of an abandoned city that existed during the reigns of Kings David and Solomon. This historical monument is located near the Elah Valley. According to biblical sources, it was the site of the battle between David and Goliath.

To conclude our tour, we will visit the national park on the ruins of the ancient city of Midras. There, you will have the opportunity to walk through underground secret passages that were used by the Bar Kokhba rebels.

It will be a fascinating and enlightening experience! Join us!

Please note that this excursion is quite intense, so we recommend resting well before the trip. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and bring flashlights to see the underground wonders.

Attractions

Tel Gezer

Tel Gezer Park

Today's Tel Gezer is a national park. Once upon a time, in the Canaanite era, it was a city-state, and in the biblical era it was a city. The city is very ancient. The first mention of it dates back to the 15th century. BC e., the era of Pharaoh Thutmose III.

Tel Gezer is famous for its mysterious columns, because of which this place is called the Israeli Stonehenge. And here you can see a copy of the famous ancient calendar.

Beit Shemesh

Beit Shemesh

Sometimes this place is considered a suburb of Jerusalem since Beit Shemesh is located nearby. It is situated between the Judean Mountains and the Judean Lowlands (Shfela). It is 27 km away from the Mediterranean Sea.

The first mentions of Beit Shemesh can be found in the Old Testament. In modern-day Beit Shemesh, tourists are drawn to the stalactite cave and the miniature park.

Valley Ela

The Elah Valley

It is located near two ancient cities - Azek and Sokho. The valley is not very large and belongs to the Shfela - the Judean lowlands. (The latter connects the Judean Mountains and the Coastal Plain.)

It got its name from the large pistachio trees that used to grow abundantly here. Even today, one can see a giant pistachio tree in the western part of the valley.

Hurvat Midras

Hurvat Midras

Within the territory of the Adullam National Park, traces of an ancient settlement and an underground and above-ground megalithic complex have been preserved. It consists of numerous remains of dwellings from different eras, caves, wells, tombs, ossuaries, and temples of various sizes. There is even a dovecote. Some walls have been worked on. Hurvat Midras resembles the remnants of a vast ancient city and looks very impressive. It is definitely worth a visit.
