No Georgian on Earth would be unaware of and not proud of Jerusalem's past.

What is Georgian Jerusalem like? When you walk through the Old City of Jerusalem, you encounter flags, symbols, and representations of various denominations, peoples, and countries. There is the Latin Patriarchate, the Greeks, the Franciscans. The Russian churches are breathtaking in their beauty, the Copts are descendants of ancient Egyptians, and here are the flags and churches of the proud representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

In Jerusalem, almost all the ancient Christian denominations are represented: Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Copts, Ethiopians. However, one of the earliest Christian nations, unfortunately, is not represented in the Holy Land. That is the Georgians.

There is no Georgian on Earth who wouldn't know and take pride in the fact that only representatives of their people were allowed to enter the Holy City of Jerusalem on horses, with unfolded banners, armed, and without paying tribute.

The Georgian chronicle "Kartlis Tskhovreba" provides a detailed description of the Christianization of Georgia in the early fourth century. It is believed that the first Christian king of Georgia, Mirian, converted by Saint Nino, received a plot of land west of Jerusalem as a gift from Emperor Constantine. It was there that the Monastery of the Cross was later built, where, as it is believed, the most famous Georgian monk, the great Shota Rustaveli, labored. While in the Holy Land, Mirian founded the first monastery in Jerusalem for his compatriots. The great Georgian king, Vakhtang Gorgasali, also made pilgrimages to the Holy Land.
