He ruled over Judea from 37 to 4 BCE, and this place served not only as a stronghold but also as a summer palace for the monarch and a "capital" of the district. Later, it became the final resting place of the king and his monument. Herod the Great was a prolific builder, but only Herodium bears his name in its title.
Jerusalem is not only the capital of modern Israel, but also a city which, for many centuries, has been the "center of the world" for Jews, Christians and Muslims.
No other city on the planet can compare with it, because only Jerusalem has such a rich spiritual and historical attraction.
