Military Georgian  roadThe Georgian Military Road was built two hundred years ago, after Georgia joined the Russian Empire. In those years, the journey from Tiflis took at least a month. Along the entire route of the road there are Georgian ancient monuments: cathedrals, fortresses, watchtowers. On the Georgian Military Road there are Mtskheta (the ancient capital of Georgia) and the Jvari temple-monastery.

Zhinvali reservoir. The Zhinvali reservoir is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful places in Georgia. The turquoise mirror of the reservoir, spread between the mountain peaks, is unusually picturesque at any time of the year.
Ananuri. To the Cross Pass the road goes along the Aragvi River. We will stop in Ananuri, at the once impregnable fortress that served as a defense outpost and residence of the rulers of this region 400 years ago.

Gudauri— the youngest and most modern winter resort in Georgia, the calling card of the local ski resort. Located on the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus Range, among snow-capped peaks and deep gorges dazzlingly shining in the sun, Gudauri boasts wide comfortable slopes of varying steepness, excellent snow cover from December to April, a mild climate without severe frosts and icy winds and, which is very pleasant, more than reasonable prices.

Church of the Holy Trinity Gergeti. The old Georgian church is located under Mount Kazbek, 2170 meters above the city of Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi) and the village of Gergeti, after which it is named. The church is widely known as the Church of the Holy Trinity Gergeti, which Georgians call its Gergeti Tsminda Sameba. The temple was built in the 14th century, but we don't know much about its history, although one of the 1906 guidebooks mentioned that the church was built on a site where pagan idols were worshiped. And in the 18th century, the church became a repository for the main Georgian relics, which were moved here during the Persian invasion of Tbilisi. For a long time, the temple served as a popular waypoint for travelers on the road connecting Russia and Georgia.
