WALK THROUGH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY OF SWITZERLAND — ALUCERNE

The Grand Tour, as the final stage in the education and upbringing of young people from the aristocratic families of England, necessarily included a visit to Lucerne, from which the history of the independence of the Swiss Confederation began. They were attracted by the climb to Mount Pilatus and Rigi, pleasant boat trips on the lake to Bürgenstock and other attractions.

Thanks to tourism, the city has changed a lot. We will see wide streets and many buildings in the liberty style. But of course, much has been preserved here from the Middle Ages. The city is located on the shores of a lake of the same name with drinking water, surrounded by beautiful mountains, just 45 minutes from Zurich or 3 hours from Milan (Switzerland is part of the Schengen zone).

What we will see:
• The sculpture "The Dying Lion"— the most famous monument in Switzerland. Here we will talk about why the Swiss served the King of France and why Pope Julius II chose them to be his guard. You will also find out why Lucerne is a Catholic and not a reform canton.
• The longest promenade in Switzerland with stunning views of the lake of 4 cantons and the mountains of Rigi, Bürgenstock and Pilatus. You will appreciate one of the best panoramas not only of Lucerne, but also of the country.
Kapellbrücke Bridge with original paintings telling the history of the city and country and a mill bridge with paintings on the eternal theme of life and death.
Painted houses and squares of a very cozy historical center.
&bul; The fortress wall *(from April to the end of October) from the height of its towers we will admire the city from a bird's eye view (+ 30 minutes)
• You will learn about the past and modern life of the city, what the artillery society and the saffron guild are doing in the 21st century.
• About the Carnival of Lucerne, during which, under no circumstances showing their emotions, the Swiss, wearing masks, resemble more Italians or Spaniards.
• Aboutcelebritieswho visitedLucerne, namely Queen Victoria, Dostoevsky, Eisenstein, Caesar Ritz, Tolstoy, Rachmaninoff, Wagner, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Churchill and many others.< br>• In addition, we will talk about brands — business cards — Switzerland, from Victorinox to Bucherer watches.
• About the world famous musicLucerne festival.

This wooden bridge with a tower was first built in the 14th century and has become a symbol of Lucerne.
