We will be able to walk along the ancient pilgrimage route, which was paved by pilgrims as a connecting thread between the places where the most famous holy sites of the Christian world are located. Regardless of one's views and beliefs, everyone should visit the Holy Land because it represents not only the places associated with events described in the Bible but also a living and active monument of world culture.

Ancient Nazareth, like many thousands of years ago, is open and welcoming to travelers. It is a sacred place for Christians because it is here that the Virgin Mary heard the Good News and returned with the young Christ after their stay in Egypt, making Nazareth a bright city of peaceful childhood.

Nazareth is home to numerous monuments and landmarks, including the House of the Holy Family, the site of the Immaculate Conception, and the ruins of the ancient city of Nazareth—and this is only a small part of what you will be able to visit. The ancient streets of the city bear witness to many historical events, being direct witnesses to their occurrence.

In the north of the Holy Land lies a land of valleys, forests, and mountains called Galilee. Here you can admire not only breathtaking landscapes but also visit numerous historical and architectural landmarks.

In addition to the beautiful landscapes, Galilee is famous for its bodies of water, one of which is called the Sea of Galilee or the Kinneret. It stretches over 20 kilometers in length and is home to 27 species of fish, with 4 of them living exclusively in the waters of the Kinneret.

During archaeological excavations at the bottom of the Sea of Galilee, a strange structure was discovered, estimated to be over 5,000 years old. It stands at a height of 10 meters and has a diameter of 70 meters, and its purpose is still being determined. Another characteristic of the Kinneret is the presence of springs with salty water at its bottom and surface, even though the sea itself is freshwater.

Attractions

Jordan River

The most sacred waters of all Christianity, western and eastern, in which Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist.
232 km long Jordan originates at the foot of Mount Hermon, flows through Lake Kinneret and flows into the Dead Sea. It is surprising that once the river valley was buried in tropical forests and hippos were found in coastal factories. Repeatedly mentioned in the Old and New Testaments. Once the river separated the territory of the promised land, where Joshua led the wanderers after 40 years in the wilderness of the Jews.
Now the river delimits Israel and Jordan. Pilgrims and tourists from every corner of the planet come to the river to take a bath in the sacred waters. From Israel, the baptismal rite can be performed in the Yardenit complex.

Cana of Galilee

It is a small Arab settlement. Here happened a miracle known to us from the biblical story , created by Jesus - at the wedding, he turned water into wine, deciding to help the newlyweds at the request of the Mother. Now on this place is the Catholic Temple of the Lord’s wedding. It is believed that the marriages concluded in this Temple are the strongest and happiest. Also in Cana of Galilee you can see the Church of St. George the Victorious and the Church of the Holy Apostle Bartholomew.

Armageddon Valley

Do not be afraid of the name, this is not the end of the world. Although if he is destined to happen, then according to Christian tradition, this event will occur at the foot of Mount Tel Megido. It will be the last battle between the sons of Good and Evil, who converge in a fierce battle. Although there were already applicants to fight at the foot of the mountain, starting from the Egyptian pharaoh Thutmose III and ending with Napoleon himself.
Armageddon can be translated as - "haar Meggido" Mount Meggido.
Even in antiquity, the hill occupied a strategically important position, here trade routes passed from the ports of the Mediterranean Sea to the northeast through the Jezreel, Harod and Beit Shean valleys, to the Jordan River and beyond, and military routes. Meggido was the dominant city-state in the Lower Galilee. Over its centuries-old history, it underwent about 26 destruction, as evidenced by archaeological excavations. The hill literally stands on layers of 26 cultural layers, 60 meters high.

Mount of Beatitudes

Israel is a country where, at almost every step, you can see one or another attraction preserved from biblical times. Mount of Beatitudes is the place where Jesus once delivered his Sermon on the Mount, consisting of several parts. Each of them began with the word "blessed." From this came the name of the mountain. In the first half of the 20th century, according to the project of Antonio Barluzzi, the Church of the Sermon on the Mount was built there. It is notable for the fact that instead of stained glass windows from which you can see the places where Jesus once passed.

Temple of the Annunciation

Thanks to the Roman emperor Constantine the Great and his mother Elena,  were built churches on the territory of the Holy Land celebrating the main gospel events: the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth.  According to the Christian tradition, Mary lived here exactly when the archangel Gabriel announced the good news about the birth of the messiah, thats why this place it seems to be unique.
The modern church was erected in 1969 and is the largest Catholic church in the entire Middle East. The church consists of two levels, the lower level is the grotto, where, upon giving, was Virgin Mary during the Annunciation. You should pay attention to the frescoes that have come down to us from the past and miraculously preserving their almost original appearance.
In the grotto there is a throne with a marble circle, where the message is written in Latin: "Verbum caro hic factum est" - "Here your word has become flesh."

Yardenit

As  known, Jesus was baptized in the waters of the Jordan River. That is why Christians from different parts of the world want to plunge into this river, and some want to perform the rite of baptism here. For this, the government of Israel was equipped with a special complex called Yardenit. The Yardenit complex is a calm backwater at the source of the sacred Jordan River. This place is equipped with everything necessary for the convenience of visitors. There are showers, locker rooms, and pedestrian walkways that make it convenient to approach the water. In addition, on the territory of the complex there are small shops where it is possible to purchase souvenirs or cosmetics from Israel, as well as special water containers for Jordan.

No one will remain hungry, because in the complex there is a restaurant with a large selection of dishes.

Church of the Apostles

the Cathedral of the Twelve Apostles is the Greek Temple of  and the monastery of the Greek Orthodox Church. According to legend, the temple stands in place of the house where the Lord healed paralysis.

Mount Tabor (Favor)

In the Jezreel Valley at a distance of nine kilometers from Nazareth is Mount Tabor, its height is 558 meters. It is believed that on Mount Tabor the most important event happened - the Transfiguration of Jesus (when he climbed a mountain with three apostles).
Today, two temples rise in the town of Tabor - the Catholic church built in the nineteenth century and the Orthodox monastery built from the remains of the oldest Byzantine church. It is in the Orthodox monastery that one of the most important shrines of the town of Tabor is located, namely, the icon of the Virgin and Child printed on newsprint. The origin of this icon is unknown, because at one time it was found in the sea, neatly folded in a bottle. A huge number of believers come to seek help from this icon.
Mount Tabor is a popular destination among tourists, because it is interesting from several sides - historical, cultural and religious.

We were accompanied by guide Pavel. A detailed story on the topic of the excursion itself, a very complete story about the history of the state of Israel, its current life. For us, this was already the third excursion and therefore we were interested not so much in the “antiquity” that Pavel spoke about in detail, but also wanted to learn about the country itself: its creation, the rules of life. We are very grateful to Pavel for interesting and useful information
