


7 km from Dubrovnik in the village of Trsteno there is a unique botanical garden ARBORETUM, founded in 1410 by the Dubrovnik prince Gucetić-Gozze. This is a unique example of landscape architecture, reflecting the Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque. The botanical garden grows exotic plants from all over the world, relict vegetation: ginkgo biloba, Lebanese cedar, dragon tree, bamboo, citrus etc.
Among the architectural monuments are the Princely Palace of Gucetic-Gozze, a baroque fountain, a medieval aqueduct, a sundial, gazebos, laurel and cypress alleys....
Visitors to the park have the opportunity to learn how olive oil was obtained and wine was made.
But the most important attraction is the plane tree, over 600 years old, striking anyone with its size.
Next, the excursion continues by car to the town of Ston. The town of Ston is located 60 km from Dubrovnik and is part of the Dubrovnik region. Sightseeing and walking tour of the city of Ston, inspection of the city wall - the longest fortress wall in Europe, (second in the world after the Great Wall of China) with a length of 5.5 km, a walk through the city courtyards and a visit to the salt pools, the oldest in Europe (about 5000 years old). You will get acquainted with the technology of producing environmentally friendly salt from sea water.
For those interested try oysters on real oyster farms - a trip to an oyster farm with a story about the technology of growing oysters in the ecological bay of the city of Ston.
Afterwards, at the request of the excursionists - lunch at a local restaurant with national cuisine of the Dubrovnik region and of course - fresh oysters!
