We will start the hike at Lake Parz. Along a beautiful forest path we will reach the village of Gosh, where the unique medieval monastery of Goshavank is located. After visiting the monastery, we will continue our hike to Lake Gosh, where after a short rest we will head to the village of Khachardzan. On the way to the village, a stunning view of the Tavush Mountains opens up in front of us. We will finish our hike in the village of Khachardzan.

Lake Parz

Parz or Parz Lich (translated as “Clear” or “Transparent Lake”) — a small lake in Armenia, located in the Tavush region, east of Dilijan, in the Dilijan National Park, at an altitude of 1334 meters above sea level. The volume of the lake is 0.00008 km³, the surface area — 0.03 km². The lake is located in a shallow valley between wooded ridges and has an oblong outline, its length reaches 385 m, its width — 85 m, depth — more than 5 m.

Goshavank Monastery

Goshavank or Nor Getik is an Armenian medieval monastery complex of the 12th-13th centuries in the village of Gosh in Armenia. On the site of the monastery destroyed by the earthquake, Getik was founded by Mkhitar Gosh with the assistance of Prince Ivan Zakarian in 1188. It received the name Nor-Getik, which in Armenian means New Getik, and after the death of Mkhitar Gosh, the monastery was also called Goshavank.

One of the largest cultural, educational and religious centers of medieval Armenia. Sources mention it as a seminary or university. Many manuscripts written in Goshavank have survived to this day.

Lake Gosh

Gosh or Gosh lich — a small lake in the Tavush region, located in the Dilijan National Park, 2 km southeast of the village of Gosh, in a wooded area. Former name — Tzrka. Lake surface area — 0.008 km², length — 100 m, width — 80 m. Maximum depth — 8 m, water volume — 1500 m³. Altitude above sea level — 1500 m.
