Walking tour "Treasures of the Fairytale Forest"

If you want to find a place far from modern civilization, where a deep gorge is adjacent to pristine forests, crystal waterfalls, unusual caves and ice springs, then a trip to Lastiver will definitely appeal to you.

130 km from the capital Yerevan, in the picturesque Tavush region, are the Lastiver caves. It is worth noting that this region of Armenia, due to its rich forests and alpine microclimate, is very reminiscent of Switzerland. The walls of the caves are decorated with filigree bas-reliefs. Who is the author of this mysterious masterpiece and when it was created is not known for certain. According to one of the hypotheses, the scene of a wedding celebration is depicted here. Few people know that sculptor Benik Petrosyan created this miracle in 1970.

The path to the Lastiver waterfall will delight tourists with lush vegetation. When you find yourself in the thicket of the forest, you will instantly feel cool and fresh.

The extreme park will allow adrenaline lovers to ride a zipline. (for an additional fee on the spot)

Lastiver Caves

Lastiver – a cave complex with rock paintings, located in the gorge of the Khachakhbyur River, 3 km from the village of Yenokavan. The path to the caves runs through a dense and picturesque forest, where you will encounter many waterfalls, as well as enjoy fresh air and beautiful nature. During the Mongol invasion of the 13th-14th centuries, the inhabitants of the region hid in medieval caves. To reach them, they had to build long ladders from logs placed on top of each other. The structure looked like a dam, which is why people began to call the area “lastiver,” which translated means “up the dam.”

Lastiver Waterfall

Tavush region is rich in rivers that originate from high mountain sources. Perhaps this is why Lastiver has several large and small waterfalls. If the weather is favorable, those who wish will be able to swim in the Khachakhbyur River.
