Arch of Charents
After leaving Yerevan, we will stop at the Charents Arch, which offers a magnificent view of the valley and its queen. biblical Mount Ararat. Here you will hear how Armenian poets sang it.
Garni Temple
On the way to the pagan temple, we will tell you about the unique pagan traditions and holidays that have survived to the present day. You will learn about the rituals that were held in the temple of the god Mithra. On the territory of the Garni fortress, which served as the residence of the kings of Armenia since the 3rd century BC, we will tell you about how the kings rested, how they escaped the heat in their chambers, how they defended themselves from enemies and even how they performed ablutions. Yes Yes! You didn't hear it right! You and I will see a 3rd century palace bathhouse with a unique mosaic.
Geghard Temple
And now let's move in time and find ourselves in the Middle Ages, or more precisely — in the medieval rock monastery of Geghard, which is included in the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. You will enjoy the beauty of nature and the grandeur of the temple, most of which is carved into the rock. You will be able to draw life-giving water from a spring that has been flowing from the rock inside the temple for thousands of years, take a photo on the bridge over a stormy mountain river, and see eagles soaring over the monastery complex. We will tell you about the spear of Longinus, which, according to legend, was kept in the monastery for many centuries, about the uniqueness of Armenian church architecture, about Christian traditions and much more. You can try traditional Armenian pastries — gata, dried fruits and local sweets.
Lake Sevan
We say goodbye to the sharp rocks stretching into the sky and hit the road again. The high-mountainous Lake Sevan awaits us. We will go with the “Sevan wind in the sails” and very soon the azure surface of the growing Caucasus Lake will appear before you, in which the blue of the Armenian sky and modest mountain ranges guarding its peaceful peace are reflected. In the center of this sea painting, on the Sevan peninsula, we will tell you about how communication with ordinary fishermen helped the Armenian king begin the victorious liberation of the country from the invaders, and we will help you decipher the unique khachkar (cross stone). By the way, our guides have unique abilities to take great photographs, from you a smile and a phone, and for everything else you rely on us and our mountains!)
Well the long-awaited moment of the meal has arrived. It's time to enjoy the “gifts of the lake” — the famous crayfish kebab and Sevan trout, “seasoned” with panoramic views of the lake and the gentle sound of waves in one of the best coastal restaurants.
Having rested and gained unforgettable impressions, we set off on the return journey. Take with you the blue of Sevan, the outlines of ancient temples and majestic mountains, the melody of the duduk and the tastes of local cuisine.
