An exciting journey begins with Famagusta, a ghost town that keeps a sad history. Under the luxurious facades of hotels, it is now quiet here, because the tragic events of 1974 turned Varosha into a dead city, surrounded by barbed wire. However, the ancient quarter and the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, built during the Luisignan dynasty, remain witnesses of the past, inside the Venetian walls.

Then we will find St. Hilarion's Castle, a magnificent place in the vicinity of Kyrenia, rising 725 meters above sea level. This castle, nicknamed "Cupid's Castle" by the French, is associated with many love stories of Cypriot monarchs.

Next, we will go to the foot of the Pentadaktylos mountain range, to the city of Kyrenia itself, with its more than three thousand year history. Snow-white houses, a medieval fortress and a picturesque bay create the unique appearance of this place, reminiscent of a southern French coastal town. Here we will visit a fortress built in the 7th century and a shipwreck museum containing the remains of a merchant ship from the 3rd century BC, perhaps the oldest ever discovered.

To conclude our journey, we will visit Bellapais Abbey, an outstanding example of the Cypriot Gothic style brought to the island by the French knights. This first Catholic monastery in Cyprus, founded by the Augustinians in the 13th century, will leave an unforgettable impression of its beauty and historical significance.
