Lake Sevan, Sevanavank Monastery, Short stop in the city of Dilijan, Goshavank Monastery, Haghartsin Monastery

Lake Sevan – "blue pearl" Armenia, is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of the largest mountain freshwater lakes in the world. Its area – 1400 sq. km, located at an altitude of 1900 m above sea level. 28 large and small rivers flow into Sevan, but only one flows out – Hrazdan river. The lake has a volcanic formation and is surrounded by mountain ranges reaching up to 3000 m above sea level. Beautiful nature and crystal clear water create excellent conditions for relaxation.
On the northwestern side of the lake. Sevan offers a beautiful view: a peninsula with medieval monasteries rises from the mirror surface of the lake. Sevanavank was built in 874 at the behest of Ashot Bagratuni’s daughter – Queen Mariam. Against the backdrop of the blue sky and turquoise lake, the churches of St. Arakelots and St. Astvatsatsin (Virgin Mary) leave an indescribable impression on the viewer.
In the deciduous forests of the Tavush region, a masterpiece of Armenian architecture opens up, a vivid example of the harmony of nature with architecture – Haghartsin Monastery. The monastery complex was founded in the 10th-13th centuries. and consists of the churches of St. Gregory, St. Theotokos, St. Stepan, as well as other ancillary buildings. Once upon a time, near Haghartsin, there grew a huge oak tree almost the same age as the monastery. Unfortunately, only a small part of the tree's hollow has survived to this day, but it is still of great interest to visitors. According to popular belief, if you manage to pass through a narrow hollow tree and make a wish, you can hope that it will come true.
