The city of Mtskheta, is one of the oldest cities in Georgia near Tbilisi. Mtskheta was the capital of the Georgian kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC. - 5th century AD, here Georgians adopted Christianity in 317. Mtskheta remains the main site of the Georgian Orthodox Apostolic Church.
Jvariis a 6th century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta (UNESCO World Heritage Site ). The name Jvari translates as Monastery of the Cross, from where a panorama opens up to the confluence of the two rivers Aragvi and Kura.
Svetitskhoveli- was built in the 11th century, although it itself is even older, dating back to the beginning of the 4th century and is surrounded by a number of legends associated primarily with early Christian traditions. Svetitskhoveli, known as the burial place of the tunic of Christ, has long been the main cathedral of Georgia and remains one of the most revered places to this day. The church is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
