Attractions
A complex of caves located near the village of Areni in the Vayots Dzor region in southern Armenia
Noravank is an Armenian monastery complex built in the XIII-XIV, 122 km from Yerevan, on the ledge of a narrow winding gorge of a tributary of the Arpa River near the village of Areni. The gorge is famous for the steep red rocks that rise behind the monastery, on the territory of which there is a two-story church of St. Astvatsatsin with narrow cantilever staircases.
Khor Virap is an ancient Armenian monastery located near the state border of Armenia, near the city of Artashat. The monastery is known for its location at the foot of the biblical Mount Ararat, where, according to legend, Noah ended up on the ark after the Flood.
Areni Winery is one of the main attractions in Armenia for connoisseurs of fine wines. This is a two-story stone building with an extension, where there is a cellar with ready-made wines in bottles, huge barrels, a small factory, as well as a cafe, a souvenir shop, and of course a tasting room.
