Tradition connects this place with the Gospel episode of the Virgin Mary’s visit to Her relative Elizabeth, described in the Gospel of Luke. Also, according to tradition, at the site of this church, the Virgin Mary uttered her famous hymn of thanksgiving — Magnificat.

There are a lot of biblical events associated with this place. Jesus Christ preached on Mount of Olives.
