Before present-day Bethlehem became one of the main tourist centers, it had a long way to go, and the history of its development preserved the legends about the reign of King David and the birth of Jesus Christ. You will be able to see with your own eyes how picturesque the landscapes of its surroundings are, framed by the outlines of the hills, and touch its shrines.

The further route of our excursion lies in the city, which is one of the oldest on Palestinian soil — Jericho. It is located 260 meters below sea level. The most widespread and oldest legend described in the Bible tells that the city walls collapsed, unable to withstand the sound of the trumpets of the conquerors who approached Bethlehem. The fighting sounds, which received the common name “the trumpets of Jericho,” tore apart the walls of the city, which were as much as 4 thousand years older than the most ancient Egyptian pyramids.
Jericho is at least 10 thousand years old, and it is considered the most ancient city in existence. In the territory, which was one of the first places inhabited in Jericho, excavations are being carried out, which have made it possible to determine that the first buildings here appeared no later than the 8th millennium BC. Remains of a watchtower, city walls and burial sites have been discovered here. The ruins of the palace of King Herod the Great and the oldest synagogue from the era of Byzantine rule have also been excavated.
It is strongly recommended to visit holy places in modest clothing that hides your shoulders and knees.

This monastery was founded in the 5th century. In XII, it was destroyed by Turkish troops, but in the late XIX – early XX centuries it was completely restored. It is located on a small ledge of a steep cliff, and you can get to it either on foot or a donkey ride for a small fee. This is a man’s monastery, and before women were not allowed in, but now the situation has changed. Travelers are welcome in the Monastery - monks can even treat visitors with their own juices. In the rock itself there are many abandoned cells, where hermit monks once lived.
Modern Bethlehem is located on the territory of the Palestinian Authority. The main population is Muslim Arabs and a small part of Christian Arabs. The main income of Bethlehem is the flow of tourists. Christian pilgrims from all over the world come to this city, the place where Jesus Christ was born. Every Christmas in Bethlehem Christmas masses are held snd the masses are broadcast around the world. The main shrine of the city is a silver star in the cave of the Church of the Nativity of Christ, which marks the place where Jesus was born. In Jericho, according to legend, was a famous meeting of the tax collector Zacchaeus with Jesus. In Jericho there is an object that is a symbol of that meeting - the famous tree of Zacchaeus.
The tree is located in the very center of Jericho. Zacchaeus had to climb this tree to see Christ, after which Jesus noticed the publican and spoke to him (this event is described in detail in the New Testament).
At the moment, this fifteen-meter sycamore tree (the Tutov family) is located next to the Greek temple in Jericho and is one of the most popular attractions that tourists seek to see.
Qasr al-Yahud is located in the Jordan Valley, not far from the confluence of the Jordan into the Dead Sea. According to the New Testament, this is the place where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. It is considered the true place of Baptism.
The Judean Desert is a desolate territory in Israel, located to the west of the Dead Sea. This is one of the most famous deserts of the world. In ancient times, it served as a refuge for hermits and rebels, and today the bedouins and Jewish settlers live here.
